First Asian American Mayor?

There is a chance that San Francisco, will have its first Asian-American mayor.

There has been a number of events that have been building up to help get this candidate elected according to this article.

Electing an Asian American mayor for a major step for Asian Americans in politics, this will help pave the way for future APAs and maybe inspire future generations to think about career choice in politics.

Even though I am not from San Francisco, this story seems similar to that of another APA that won a seat in the House of Representatives two years ago, in Louisiana. A major difference is that there is a sizable APA community in San Francisco that will probably elect  Chiu, and Chiu already holds a position in the local city government. Having a base will definitely help Chiu in the long run.

    Ed Lee ended up being elected. Unfortunately, this is not a good thing for the city. His political affiliations are known to be corrupt and he has been accused of using city monies for running his election. Just wrote a post about this:
